Halloween vs Ghost Festival...hmmmm....

Tomorrow is Halloween!!! WOOHOO!!! Not that I've ever celebrated it in my entire life but hey..I would definitely want my daughter to have a go at it :P. I'm not into all the evilness of Halloween but I'm in for the sweets!!! The more my daughter gets the more we all get to eat...haha... Unfortunately we people in Malaysia do not celebrate such an occasion, instead we have what we call "Ghost Festival/Ghost Month"...and they don't even have sweets :( they do however have food which they give to their deceased ancestors at their burial place Hmmm...I seriously hope I got this right...I'm a Christian so I'm not sure how this Ghost Festival really goes...anybody knows??? Hahaha....so sorry if I'm wrong :) so for the ghost festival there is definitely no sweets for the living.

Well, the Ghost Festival is basically a day which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. It is also known as the Chingming Festival, where the living descendants pay homage to their ancestors and on Ghost Day, the deceased visit the living. (Taken from the Wikipedia)

Halloween on the other hand is when the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, pretty much the same as ghost festival...don't you think? and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops, bonfires would hence be lit to ward off evil spirits. (Taken from the Wikipedia) I guess the only difference is one is to pay homage and the other is to scare of the evil spirits. Plus the fact that Halloween involve sweets for the kids.

So anyway, back to my story of Halloween tomorrow.....I'm positively sure that there will be a lot of trick or treating going on at Piasau Camp tomorrow I could be wrong, cause I'm just guessing...hehehe and there will also be a Halloween party for the kids on Saturday at Piasau Boat Club at 4pm...I'm sure the kids would have a blast there.

By the way, do you have any clue why during Halloween they always say "trick or treat?" Well, just in case you didn't know, the "trick" part of "trick or treat" is an idle threat to play a trick on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given. (Again facts taken from Wikipedia:)) So that's why in the western countries everyone have treats to give :P...but than again the kids are probably way to young to think of what trick to come up with if the house owners doesn't give them anything, or they could be too occupied about moving on to the next house to get more sweets than to think of a trick to play....don't you think so? Then again, never underestimate kids...:P Its best just to prepare sweets :D

Oh yah...back to my actual reason why I'm blogging about Halloween today. I know, I always seem to get carried away....:) So, tomorrow...my dear friend Alison has decided to have some trick or treating for the kids...I think it was very nice of her to organize it...at least that would keep the kids entertain. We are going to go to her house, her Mom's house which is next to her house, and two of her neighbours house. We will also be going over to another good friends house which is in Pujut 7 and than the final house would be my house. Don't think I'll be getting any pumpkin or even bother decorating my house...cause if I did, my mom would make a whole lot of HU-HA...she would definitely not be happy....so this is going to be a very low-profile-sweet -collecting-event :D Hope my daughter doesn't get all excited and start blabbering about it to my mom...if not...*kuang-kuang-kuang!*.

After tomorrow, the next thing to look forward to is CHRISTMAS!!! WOOHOO!!! I so love Christmas!!! Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way!!!...haha...ok..ok...will stop singing...

Beautifying Products???

So yah...what beautifying products should we use? What's best??? There are millions of product out there, so how do we choose??? Who knows? I'm clueless too...but in today's blog I'll give you an insight to what I use...not sure whether its working...hahaha...so read on if you want to know....:P

Beautifying products that I use on a daily basis....unfortunately beautifying products can only do so much and the rest really depends on how you really look like in the first place....haha...unless of course you go for plastic surgery lah than you can probably alter your look according to how you would like to look like. Sadly to say, I'm not into plastic surgery...so I'm stuck with what I have. Which I like of course, cause I'm so using to seeing myself everyday in that way.

Well, don't really want to go to heaven one day and hear God say "Who are you? You're not Jacqueline? I made Jacqueline, so I would definitely know who she is, and you are NOT Jacqueline!!!" Scary leh....ok...ok...my imagination is running away. I'm not even sure whether I'll be able to get to heaven....sigh...that reminds me, I need to start doing more good things these days...life is short.

So yah...back to my daily beautifying products...here's my list!!! TA-DA!!! Don't ask me why I'm telling you all this...this is my indirect way of cheering myself up....at least I'm trying to stay young...kan? Hahaha..if only that is possible...

1. Dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-Active Toner, Skin Smoothing Cream To keep my skin looking young I suppose....
2. Dermalogica - Extreme C for any small pigmentation that I'm starting to have...sigh...the older you get the more skin problems you tend to have...:(
3. Neways - Ultrashine Radiance for my teeth...suppose to be really good as its all natural...or something like that. Tried going back to using the normal toothpaste a few days back only to find that the normal toothpaste is so sweet! So strange...and that was Darlie. Now I even converted my daughter's toothpaste to Neways Radiance which is not so minty...instead of giving her the normal kids colgate. Apparently its suppose to be cancer-free....no chemicals in it...
4. Oral-B - Mint Floss So I can avoid going to a dentist as much as possible.
5. E Prim - Evening Primrose Softgel I guess that's to keep me having nice skin? Which I obviously don't :(
6. Amway - Double X That's a complete set of supplements to keep me in good health throughout the day....so far its working pretty good....I don't have sinus anymore these days.

And that's it....not doing a whole lot to beautify myself...but I guess this is enough to keep my skin healthy....I think....anything else I should use???

Oklah...that's it from me...not that what I wrote today would even interest you :P BUT...do let me know what other products that are really good out there that I should try.... Cheers!!!

Sigh...Marriage....

Marriage needs a lot of love, patience and forgiveness if not you would very likely just decide to pack up your bags and your kids and move to another country altogether without the knowledge of the other half...

My AIR-CON has KAPUTED!!!

WWHHHYYYYYY??? Wwwwhhhhyyy??? Whyyyy is this happening to me???? Breathe Jacqie!!! BREATHE!!!

Sigh...my bedroom air-con is not working and has not been working since last Saturday. It all started when it tripped like 4 times on Friday night and finally it decided to die on us. Got a good fireman friend who use to be an electrician to come look at the air-con and miraculously it turned on when he was there, but that night when we tried to switch in on again, it just didn't want to. I swear that this kind of things are alive. Thy always switch on when a professional comes in to look at them but dies again when they are gone. Macam making fun of us only.

Anyway, since I'm seriously spoil yes I admit I am, after all I am the youngest in the family but mind you, I'm only spoil in a sense that I must have air-con when I sleep at night. Either than that, I don't think I'm that spoil lah...:P and cannot live without air-con....I have moved our bedroom into the living room. So, we have been sleeping there for the last two days. My daughter thinks its really fun and she told me this morning not to move the bed out of the living room :D. She said it like this "Don't move the bed, ok? We sleep there again, ok?"

And since the actual air-con man came today to have a look at it, he said its probably the CPU...well, at least now I know that a computer and an air-con have something in common, and they both have CPU's!!! I learn something new everyday. After saying that, he took the CPU and told my hubby that he'll send back the CPU in a couple of days....sooooo.....that's just great!!! Two more days of sleeping in the living room....I sooooo miss my room already but its just too hot to be in there at night....well actually, I think if we switch on two fans I could survive but since we have an air-con in the living room, we might as well just make use of it....kan???

So, living room, here I come again tonight!!! My daughter will be so happy to find out that we will be sleeping there for another 2 nights. At least someone is happy :D

Ok, that's it from me...hopefully the air-con repair doesn't cost a bomb....sigh...I'm so worried now. TA for now!!!

The Tomb of Dato Permaisuri....I Didn't Know!!! Did you???

So, last Friday for our WHPH we went on a boat trip down our beautiful very much polluted river :D. We didn't get to see any crocodiles at all and I'm begining to think its because the river is serisouly polluted!!! They have either died in it or they just can't see a damn thing from under the water....you want to see how polluted our river is? Well, here's a picture of our sad sad river...

I guess we being on the boat added more pollution to it as well....

Despite the pollution, the trees were nice and green and the sun was shinning very brightly...it was a beautiful day nevertheless!!! Look at us looking all happy!!! :D

And during out Boat Trip, we stopped at this particular place....(picture below). Have you ever been here before? It the "Dato Permaisuri's Tomb". Well, in all my life, I never knew this place even existed!!! And I'm from Miri!!! The guy in brown whom everyone is facing is the one who told us the story of that place...and he is an ANG-MO!!!! How can that be!!! So memalukan you know!!! Hiyah...that time I don't even want to admit I'm from Miri...hahaha. But at least I know now lah....better than not know at all until I'm like 60 years old....kan?

Well, this is the story. This is taken from http://www.miricity.com.my/. Located at Pujut Tanjung Batu, the tomb of Dato Permaisuri is related to a legend much talked about by the elders of the local Malay community Maybe that's the reason why I have never heard of the story before, maybe if I was Malay I would have known...you think??? Any Malay's or Muslim out there who hasn't heard of this story yet and am just as clueless as I am???. The story is about a beautiful princess who was ship wrecked whilst sailing in Miri coastal waters.

By the blessing of Allah (Muslim's word for God) she landed on the beach where the locals took care of her Wait till you here the other part of the story...I'll tell you later. She settled down, adapted herself well in the local village life and did not want to return to Johore. Thereafter she set up a school and spread the teaching of Islam thereby becoming very much respected here for the love and unselfish service to the community.

In recognition of her service to the local Muslim community, her tomb was gazette by the Sarawak Government to be a part of Miri Heritage. In addition two road and secondary school so that's where SMK Dato Permaisuri got its name from...hiyah...now only I know!!! in Miri were named after her. Many who know of the legend continue to visit her tomb to show respect for the great princess.

That's one part of the story...the one that is written near the tombstone goes something like this. This is my version of what I read.

Apparently, in those days the Royal family from Johore had very close ties with the Royal family in Brunei. And they would often travel by sea to visit each other. In this particular story, the Permaisuri and her husband and her husband's family were on a ship on the way to Brunei when it got ship wrecked. The husband had to decide on who to save...his mom or his wife. In the end he decided to save his mom with the idea that you could get another wife and not another mom. Well, he did have a point!!! Don't you think?

Anyway, he saved his mom and they all manage to get to Brunei safely. As for the wife...since he didn't save her, she was left to die in the sea...by God's blessing, she survived the ship wrecked and ended up in Miri. The people were good to her, so she decided to stay in Miri. Her husband however heard that she survived and came to Miri to persuade her to go back with him. But she obviously was pretty pissed-off with him for leaving her to die that she decided to stay in Miri. I mean if I were her, I would be pretty pissed-off too...wouldn't you? But than again, I have a soft spot for MOMS in general and if my hubby was to safe me and left his mom to die, I would feel really reallty guilty and would never live it down....so...in my case...if it was me, I would be very very very confuse, thank goodness she wasn't me...haha. And that's the story!!!

And I only know about it after living in Miri for almost 30 years....WOOHOO!!! Sadlah me...haha...I wonder whether there are anything else about Miri's history that I'm still clueless about...sigh...I've got too google it and find out more before some other ang-mo tells me about my own City....haha...oh well....I'm beginning to think that being in Miri too long has made me an ignorant Mirian....haha...and life goes on!!! :P

Why doens't anything interesting happen to me???

My life is not very exciting....that's why I haven't written much...I beginning to think I'm running out of ideas....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! This is not good for my blogging career!!! Anyway, here's something that happen to me this week...no so interesting lah...but can lah....

Number 1:

My daughter had her first durian. How did that happen, her grandfather wanted to give her to try and my hubby said no need cause durian panas bah...and I agreed but my daughter being as she is, would always try something if we say cannot...haha...biasalah kids. So I say oklah...give her a bit too try...so she tried and she I ask her "Nice or not?" and first she say "Nice" than in a split second she shake her head to the left ad the right, meaning not nice...than we ask whether she want some more and she said...No...haha...than we ask her to drink water...funny girl.

Number 2:

Yesterday while sending my daughter to the babysitter....I had to stop to let 6 chicks and their mother cross the road. Thank goodness I wasn't driving so fast, if not I would have rolled over a few of the chicks....they were so cute!!! Once they saw me stop, they quickly quickly cross the road...I guess chickens are pretty smart too...sayang I didn't have a camera at that time to stop and take picture of them walking across the street :P

Ok..that's it from me, boring kan! Only two things have happen to me...oh yah...and I started jogging again...had too cause I gain a bit of weight...seriously freaked me out when i went on the scale..yah...and that's it....welcome to my boring life....becoming even worst...day by day BUT I love it nevertheless :P TA!!!

So Strange....

Last night I went to sleep pretty early. Had every intentions of watching Ugly Betty and CSI NY and wanted to exfoliate my face but I was physically exhausted...no idea why....so as usual, while putting my daughter to sleep, I fell asleep as well!!! :D.

Then around 1am I woke up and went outside to see whether my hubby was sleeping on the sofa outside....and yes he was...so I woke him up and told him to go into the room and he did just that. Somewhere around 3am my daughter wanted a bottle of milk and I told her that I'm not giving her one cause she should stop that habit of asking for it and sleep through the night instead. But she wanted her way and made a big fuss about while she scream and the top of her lungs and started kicking me. WAH! at that time I got so angry with her you know....dahlah I so tired. So I raised my voice and told her off. I know, I know its not that hard to make a bottle of milk but her bottle seems to have a problem and I need to lock the cap at a right angle so it doesn't leak and that can take forever...so I was so damn irritated that I had to do just that at 3am in the morning. After I pepot-pepot (meaning that I was giving her a lecture on how it will feel if she was the one who had to wake up in the middle of the night to get something for me) her, I finally manage to lock the bottle at a right angle and went to back to bed. At that point, she came face to face with me and pull me close to hug me....and then I also become lembut lah...and told her that she shouldn't do that again the next time. She should stop that habit. Then she gave me a smile..so obviously I couldn't stay mad at her...sigh...sometimes I'm just too soft hearted.

Anyway, after that she drank her milk and we both fell back to sleep. Somewhere in my deep sleep, I heard my hubby get out of bed angrily and walked out of the room and bang the door. I was a bit confuse but decided not to think about it and went back to sleep. The next morning after I was all ready for work I woke up my daughter and woke my hubby up. He was of course sleeping on the sofa again. He woke up in a pretty bad mood and he changed and all and got into the car to send my daughter to the babysitter and he didn't even look at me once. At that time, I was not ready to start my day with a fight so I just let it go.

Then around 10am just now, I called him and ask him whether he was ok. He said he was, then I said why did you seem like you were in a bad mood this morning. Then he said, "its because you were lecturing and nagging at me". And I said, "When?" and he said "Last night!" and I was like "Huh?". And then I said "How come I cannot remember lecturing or nagging you leh?", then I said again "You dreaming eh?" and then he suddenly started laughing and he said "Yakah!". I also laugh also lah at that time....kesian him, sampai can mimpi-mimpi I lecture him. Hahaha...maybe its because I haven't done it for quite awhile and have been very quiet this pass few days. This is the first time this has ever happen....and it was probably super real to him for him to act that way. Glad that's settled :D. Phew...thank goodness no fights :D. I know I have had bad dreams of us fighting too before but when I wake up I always know that it was a dream...strange that his wasn't like that...:P. I'm sure he misses my lecturing...hahaha...NOT!

Oklah that's it from me....strange how dreams can be so real sometimes...scary! TA for now!!!
