SUPER FIT MOMMY PART 2...not yet lah but getting there ;)

So on the 18th March (2 posts ago), I put up my weight and the various details that I was tracking so I could prove to you that at my age I can still try to be fitter, stronger and healthier than those 10 years younger than me :P.

So here's the comparison...

18th March Stats:

Weight                      : 47kg
Height                       : 150cm
BMI                          : 20.8
Whole Body Fat (%) : 26.4
Skeletal Muscle (%)  : 23.2
Body Fat (%)            : 33.9
Visceral Fat (%)        : 4
Real Age                   : 35yo
Body Age                 : 36yo
Waist                        : 29 inch
Hips                          : 35.5 inch

As of today - 3rd April Stats:

Weight                      : 45.7kg
Height                       : 150cm (Can't do much about the height..maybe I should try Yoga and stretch more?)
BMI                          : 20.3
Whole Body Fat (%) : 24.3
Skeletal Muscle (%)  : 24.3 (Increase by 1%!!! AWESOME!!!!)
Body Fat (%)            : 30.4
Visceral Fat (%)        : 3
Real Age                   : 35yo
Body Age                 : 34yo (I'm one year younger!!!! WOOHOOO!!!)
Waist                        : 29 inch
Hips                          : 34.5 inch

So you see!!! It's possible leh!!! But you really need to put effort to do something, even if you think you don't have the time to do so. I'm not a super fit mommy yet but I'm getting there :D

I have 3 kids...so I can't exercise everyday....I find ways to do some kind of workout just for the sake of keeping myself healthy. Let me give you an example:

(1) I have evening walks/cycle time with the kids and hubby - this is WONDERFUL BONDING time

I walk this little sweetheart of mine, up and down our housing area, and I do this fast not slow... this helps me burn more calories than walking at a snails pace and at the same time, my boy get to experience more wind in his face...hahaha... when i do this, my aim is to try and outwalk my kids on their bicycles... :P. Which usually isn't possible... haha.. It's pretty much a win-win situation cause I get to do some sort of workout (not much lah but better than sitting down and watching tv, right?) and my kids are having fun!!!
Sometimes the hubby joins the fun by riding my daughter's bike with my second boy in the basket...good workout for the hubby as well... ;).

(2) I walk up and down the stairs to my office which is on the 3rd floor instead of using the lift....sometimes you just need to make a change and make it that change into a habit. This habit helps, though you may say not much, but like I said, better than nothing right? Every small change you make in your daily life which avoids being lazy, is always good. If you accumulate it together, it will work out to a bigger amount of calories burned...true? So, moral of the story....don't be lazy yah....

(3) While you are watching TV you could do Squats and Push-ups and Sit-ups.....the kids will most probably join you too and that is good for them...good to start kids young with living a healthy lifestyle..

(4) Sometimes, when the kids drive me up the wall....I go for a quick jog around my housing area...all it takes is 25 minutes of my time and I'm back at home with the kids again. That way I get to de-stress and at the same time take as short a time away from the kids.

And when you have the time...do what you can to utilize that time for exercise..time is precious...haha...well in my case it is...I don't even have time to blow my hair in the morning...I take 3 minutes in the shower...5 minutes if it includes brushing my teeth and washing my face. Make up consist of a quick touch up on my eyebrows, a quick pad of powder on my face and some eye liners to my eyes...that would take another 3 minutes... then its ZOOM out into the car...oh yah...I do put clothes on as well...hahaha...and that is just pulling out a pants and a top from my cupboard....see no time...sad or not...

Hence, time is very the precious... :P. Today I shall head to the park to run round and round and round...oh no!!! I forgot my MP3!!! It's at home!!! OH NO!!! Sigh...this means I'll be heading home to run around my housing area....this will give the dogs around my area some excitement for today...they will decide whether they would want to chase me or not...most of the time their decision is to chase!!! Scary wei!!! But thank goodness I'm not afraid of them, so I just stop and look at them and they back off....huhu...

Wah...I'm actually getting very long winded here....how did this happen...haha... to end this, let me show you a picture of me and my friend after hiking last monday....still can smile some more...haha...

Ohhh...and before I end...I would like to say KUDOS to a friend of mine (facebook picture below which I stole from her facebook page...hehehe..sorry dear..jangan marah ye..I bangga with your determination bah...hehe) who actually made the effort and time for exercise most mornings after she sends her kids to school...see nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it!!! No such thing as "I cannot lah" or "No time lah" or whatever "-lahs" you may have... just DO IT!

And say to yourself:

And that's it from me!!! Over and out!!!

What is the World becoming these Days? Children are Murdered & Children are Raped :( What has become of our Society????

Though I have yet to mention anything about Tifanny Wong's murder case, it was indeed a shocking news for all of us here in Miri. She was only 17 years old. Then there was the murder of a 20 year old girl a few days later, in Miri as well. Then in the news there was the case of a 4 year old who was raped by a kindy owner....I mean seriously....what are these ppl thinking???

It freaks me out as a young mom (as I like to think I am still young...:)) to think about bringing up my daughter in this world or my son (in my tummy) for that matter.

The truth of the matter is that, no matter what you do and how much you try to protect your children, sometimes there is just nothing you can do to keep them safe. If we are over protective, I'll children will probably grow up rebelling against us, but if we give them too much freedom, then they might get influence by the wrong group of friends and then rebel against us as well....so either way, nothing seems right.

So how do we give the right amount of love without being over protective and without giving too much freedom???

That is still a mystery to me. What am I going to do? I'm still clueless...but for one thing I'm sure of at this point of time is to make sure that my children grows up knowing who God is....and I think in some cases I just need to put my faith and trust in the Lord to take care of them. Honestly, I think religion plays a very important role in our children's life. I don't think I need to elaborate further on this....as I'm sure you all would understand where I am coming from.

If everybody was brought up with religion as their foundation, I have a feeling this world would be a much safer and better place to live in.

Don't you think so???

Anyway, to close this blog out, here's a beautiful Christian Prayer I found, which we could use pray in our daily lives for our children. It is titled:

"Protection for My Children"

Father God, I lift up my children before You.
I ask You to watch over them.
Hide them under the shadow of your wings.
Protect them from the evil in this world.
Let no harm come to their spirit, souls, or bodies.

Lord I thank You that Your angels go with and before my children.
Thank You for protecting them and keeping them safe from danger,
disease, and harm of every kind.
Let no evil befall them, let no plague come near them.
I thank You, Lord, that my children are safe in the shelter of Your arms.

Protect my children from injury of any kind.
I pray that they would be sensitive to Your Spirit
and that you would direct their steps.
Give my children courage to say no to friends
and activities that would put them in danger.

I thank You, Lord, that You protect them from spiritual,
mental, physical, and emotional abuse from others.
You protect them from the enemy's evil plans to bring them harm
because Your word says that the evil one touches them not
and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper.

I thank You, Lord that water shall not overtake them
and fire shall not consume them.
Wherever they go and whatever they do, You protect them, Lord.
In Jesus' name I proclaim it.

Amen.

Children's Reward Charts??? Does it Work???

My daughter is a little monster in disguise. She's a super drama queen and has a pretty bad temper. Especially when she's over tired. Example of things that she will do:
  1. Scream very loud....as if the world is going to end cause she can't get what she wants...
  2. Starts crying and saying "I NEED IT BAH!!!" "I WANT IT BAH!!!"
  3. Starts throwing things at the person she's angry with...very bad behaviour...
  4. Starts running around like a headless chicken!!!! As if by doing so she will get what she wants..
  5. Opens her eyes really big and starts hitting the person she is angry with....
And she finally stops when she has over cried and starts vommiting....

Then, I ask the mom would go, "See!!! I already say don't cry, but you never listen!!! You know you always cannot get what you want!!! You are so spoil!!!"

And daughter continues crying.....sounds terrible doesn't it???

Usually after all the commotion we will hug each other in bed and I'll explain to her nicely on why I was angry with her and why she cannot always get what she wants. Then I'll say sorry and she'll say sorry to me too. Its really nice at that moment, but then the explanation doesn't really sink through and eventually a few days later the tantrum begins again.

Sometimes I give her the silent treatment when I'm upset with her for being naughty...but she just pretends that I'm not giving her the silent treatment and continues chatting a way as if nothing has happen....which annoys me even more....by the end of that day when we are both in bed....I'll again give her the same talk and explain to her why I was angry with her..and again we both will say our sorry's and give each other hugs and kisses.

And the cycle goes on and on and on....(of course there are days when she just a little sweetheart lah....but I've got to stop her from throwing things and hitting ppl, which is a reallybad habit, noting that she's only 3.5 years old!!!)

So, since what I do just doesn't work, I've decided to try using the "Children's Rewards Chart". It looks something like this:

On the left side of it is where I should put the behaviour that I would liker her to have. And each day that she keeps to that behaviour, she gets a big star on the flower pot....and by the end of the week if she successfully gets more than 6 stars (I know there is only 6 pots there, I'm going to have to make my own rewards chart so I have 7 days in it), she'll be rewarded. I've yet to really figure out the reward system but I'll get to it in a few days while I design my own chart. Once that is done, I'll put it up here for you all to see. Will it work??? Who knows??? I guess I just got to give it a go....

Wish me all the best in my success to modifying my daughter's behaviour!!! I hope this works, if not I have to start reading all those parental books....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....as much as I like reading...I don't really have the time for it.

Ok, that's it from me.....will keep you all updated!!!

Sleepless Morning.....Feel Terrible...

So kesian my daughter early this morning, she woke up at around 3am I think and she started to toss and turn and cry than she would fall back to sleep and a few minutes later would do the same, all the way until 5am. By then, I was exhausted and irritated, so asked her "What is wrong with you?" and she started to cry.....but me being a horrible mum and obviously irritated already, ask her again "What is wrong with you????"

And she finally told me her bum bum painful....poor girl :( ....so I said "Come, take out your pampers", so I help her out of it and wanted to put her pants on again but she didn't want to...so I thought she wanted to sleep without her pants. At that point of time (me being very tired) would let her do just that. So I told her "If you want to she-she, you tell me, OK? Do you want to she-she???", I said that because when I took her pampers off, it was not wet at all. Than she nodded and scramble of the bed, so I followed her and I switch on the toilet light for her....and when she sat on her potty she peed...banyak lagik tu!!! So kesian!!! Apparently she was holding it in all this time, that's why she couldn't sleep! So I told her there and than, "Next time you want to she-she, you tell mommy ok?" and gave her a kiss on her forehead...cause I felt really bad for getting irritated with her when all she wanted to do was pee. :( I guess she just doesn't like pee-ing in her pampers anymore....

After that she went back into bed and slept very soundly. I even had to carry her into the car this morning for my hubby to send her to the babysitter. So kesian kan! Sigh...sometimes I wish I could read into my daughters head...so I don't get irritated with her unnecessarily...makes me feel like a terrible mom...don't you think?

Ok, that's it from me...

This is what happens when you have CHILDREN!!!

Today after going for lunch at my friend's place (Karen, if you are reading this, the food was yummy, especially loved the Curry!!!...thanks for inviting me to your Gawai Open house...love you babe!!!), I decided to go SHOPPING!!! Well, my main purpose was to find myself a nice pair of flat shoes that i can use for work. Sadly to say, I didn't achieve my goal...hahaha.....instead this is what I bought!!!

(unfortunately I couldn't post the pictures up as the card reader that I have does not want to work....so sad...*sniff**sniff*...will go buy one tomorrow!!! Another shopping list for me and my shoes that i have yet to get :P...well, tomorrow still is a holiday...YAHOO!!!)

  • 5 cute little t-shirts
  • 1 cute little dress
  • 2 pairs of very cute shoes
  • 1 cute little denim shorts

Now, you must thinking "Hey, you said you didn't get shoes??? But I see two pairs on your list of things that you bought!!!"

Oh....how I wish they were mine!!! Unfortunately, they are for my daughter!!! You see how it is when you have children....you tend to buy things for them and forget to buy things for yourself. Right Moms???

Its a wonder I have working clothes that dates back to 1997!!! Hahaha....but HONESTLY, I left for the malls this afternoon with every intention to buy myself a pair of shoes but I get so carried away when I get to the kids department (not sure how I got there....hahaha....I think its a magnetic pull for all mothers out there...hahaha...you think???) and saw 70% discount!!! I mean how can you resist that. I got her t-shirts for about RM5 each!!! That's a serious bargain you know!!! So that's what basically happen today!!! :)

I have no regrets...haha...she does need new t-shirts anyway cause the ones she has now are pretty dirty already...and as for shoes....well she did need a new pair of church shoes and I just couldn't resist getting another pair which looked so COOL!!! So, at the end of it all it was a satisfying day....ummm.....except of course for the price increase on Petrol that will happen at 12 midnight tonight....so sad :(

My friend "Corie" actually gave me a call just now and this was how the conversation was like:

Corie said: "Jacq, do you have any idea where I can get a chicken and a cow from? I need to rear it behind my house, everything is becoming too expensive these days!!"

ME (in shock) thinking: Wah! steady lah this Corie....very economical...I wonder how she is going to handle the cow!!! Obviously I wasn't worried about the chicken at all.

ME pretending to be cool and saying: "I don't know lah dear but I have a friend name ...... and she rears chickens, I could give my her a call and check with her"

Corie said: "I'm just kidding lah....hahaha"

ME thinking: Aiyo JACQ!!! What is wrong with you, why you so DUHHHH one!!!

It Must be the idea of having the petrol price increase that is blocking my thinking...hahaha...we of course talked longer than that but whatever was said after that is not important to you all :P...haha...can't tell you everything can I??? Then I won't have any private life left!!! :P

Anyway, My In-Laws also went to fill up petrol for the car and they told us that the queue was crazy!!! Hahaha....I bet most of you from http://www.miricommunity.net/ were probably in that line...right? Come to think about it, some of you could still be in that line just about now as I am blogging. Hope you all brought a book to read or something like that :) I on the other hand decided not to join the queue....I might very likely regret it tomorrow!!!

Ok, that's it from me tonight...going to wake up early for my morning jog tomorrow since I'm still on a holiday!!! :P GOODNIGHT!!!

Signing off with a picture of my daughter last Christmas!!! Ohhhh....isn't she just adorable!!!

Why do we bother having KIDS?

Since my little Seraphina has turn into a Little Monster, I tend to ask myself, why do people bother having kids??? Let me list down a few things I have to go through just by having one kid, i repeat ONE KID!!!

First of all, its the amount of pain you have to go through just to get them into this world!!! And that's just the beginning!!!

  1. Then, when they are first born, you hardly have time to sleep, if you are lucky, your baby might sleep for 4 hours, wake up for one hour and repeat the routine. Unfortunately for me, my baby had a bad cough in her first month (poor little girl, partly I'm too blame cause i had the bad cough first), so anyway, due to that, she wakes up every hour to cough, and mind you, it was quite on the dot...so can you imagine my sleeping pattern??? I looked horrible!!! and I was irritable and all emotional!!! Not a very nice scene.
  2. Then you have to change and wash them when they "do their business", and that SMELL!!!! That Smell beats all kinds of smell....hooyoooh!!!
  3. Since there are so many kidnapping cases this time, you can hardly even let your child out of sight, and you know how tiring that is, especially when they walk so fast. This means that, shopping is out of the question!!!
  4. Next, We need to train them!!! That's the worst!!! I know some parents wake up every few hours to potty train their children. But me? Apu!!! I'm the last person on earth who wants to wake up in the middle of the night to ask my daughter to go to the toilet! Anyway, I've tried telling my daughter to use her potty many times but all she does is sit on it and smile and says 'ok!', and I know when she says 'ok!' that means that she's tired of sitting on the potty. There has yet to be a time when she actually peed in it. There was one time when we just got out of the shower and she was not wearing her pampers, and she really needed to go, she kept telling me "Bau! Bau!" and I said quick come here and use the potty...but she didn't want to, so both of us were in panic mode...she not being able to hold it in any longer and me, trying to get her to sit on the potty!!! At the end, she stood there and pee came rolling down her legs onto the bedroom floor. Than she started crying and saying "Bak! Bak!" meaning "Wet! Wet!" in Kelabit...and I said NOOOOOO!!!! and she manage to stop it for awhile...hahaha...don't ask me how, but anyway, the commotion continued, she tend asked me to fill her small bath tub so she could sit in it, but I didn't know why she wanted to sit in it, but being the obliging mother, i fill the bathtub with water and she quickly sat in it, and guess what she did!!!! She continued PEE-ING!!! So there goes her bath, and I had to bath her again!!! All the commotion just to get her to PEE.....
  5. Than you have to Discipline them and teach them that NO is actual word...and when you say NO it means NO. However, NO isn't in her vocabulary...when you say NO....she cries and screams and becomes very demanding. Sometimes it can really get out of hand. One time we went to Dinner at this Aunty's house...and she was very much enjoying herself but it was getting late and we wanted to go home but she didn't want to, so it was quite dramatic. We manage to pull her out of the house and get her into the car but she wanted to escape. She cried so hard all the way home and when we brought her into the room, she ran out of the room and open the front door and wanted to run out, as if lah she can run all the way to the aunty's house. It was really bad!!! I've never seen such a thing from her before and mind you she's only 2 YEARS OLD!!! 2 years old and she wants to run away from home already, can't imagine what it will be like when she becomes a teenager!!! Not looking forward to that at the moment!!! And praying very hard that she turns out to be a good behaved child..haha...I bet all mothers hope the same!
  6. The "NO" in disciplining also applies to going shopping, when she doesn't get what she wants, I literally have to drag her out of the supermarket while she does her "Kicking and Screaming". Its very exciting when that happens cause you than become the center of attention! So memalukan you know!!!!....sometimes I wish I could wear a permanent hood so I can cover my head when she does that.

So why do we have kids??? I ask myself this over and over again all the time...than it all becomes clear to me when I see my daughter in this so adorable state (picture below) ...and than I think to myself that it's all worth it and I wouldn't want to change it for the world. Of course at that point of time you kinda have amnesia and forget all the horror you have been through :).
