I'm Going to Run for a GOOD CAUSE!!!

Well, sorry about yesterday. Was pretty emotional about the whole Father's Day thingy. It really sucks big time to have such a wonderful dad and too lose him at such a young age. I guess God knows what's best :)

Anyway, am in much better mood today and not so down :D.

And just to let you all know, I am training for a joggerthon this Saturday which will start at 6.30am. My very first concern is whether I'll be able to wake up. Then I'll worry about whether I'll be able to win it or not :P. Hopefully my jogging pays off and I get to win some kind of prize....that will nice. If not I'll just jog in support of HLS (Human Life Service). For your info, they are a non-profitable organization that gives temporary shelter for unwedded mothers, single mothers in pregnancy crises, battered women, abused children, abandoned babies and children. HLS handle cases referred by Government and non- Government organizations, churches and care centres. HLS also helps in adoption of babies.

So, why not right? Its for a good cause :D

Then in July I'll be joining a netball tournament which is organized by KRP. That would be fun!!! Can't wait!!!

And at the end of July, I'll probably join a charity run which is organized by Dynasty Hotel in Miri. Not sure how far the distance is cause I've yet to ask them about it. Hopefully it ranges from 5km to 10km cause for now I think that's as far as I can go without stopping. Maybe next year I'll try and join a half marathon again, like I did in 2003. At that time it wasn't the best idea cause I hardly had much practice and after the run (which consist of not so much running but mostly walking) as I got home, I collapsed on my bed and slept!!! Not sure for how long but when I woke up my legs had a life of its own...hahaha...those were the days when I had nothing better to do with my life. This time round, I'm going to train for it months before the actual day. Who knows one day I'll do a full marathon. That's a goal I intend to achieve. Even Kenny Sia has done is before...tak patut I cannot....I wonder how his legs were the next day....

Anyway, going to go for a jog again in a few minutes time. Ta for now!

Father's Day...a sad one...

Last Sunday was Father's Day and it was the day I so wish my dad was alive. Now sitting here typing this I have tears in my eyes and wishing my dad was still around. He was a man who had so much love to give to everyone around him. So today's blog, is in remebrance of him, the best dad anyone in the whole wide world could ever have....

And here's a beautiful write-up on my dad by the HLS ppl....it brought tears to my eyes....and made me miss him even more....thanks for keeping my dad alive in our hearts. Everything that is written in here is exactly what my dad is.....I LOVE YOU DAD!!! and I MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY!!!

In Memory Of HLS 1st Director, Mr. Joseph Yee Nin Kah

Uncle Joe (Mr. Joseph Yee Nin Kah) , the first Director of Human Life Service Centre, had in his office which was located on the second floor, the following prayer pasted on the wall.It was somehow a reflection of his life:

Seek to be Generous

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous ,
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for a reward;
save that of knowing that I am doing your will.
Amen.

Uncle Joe was called to rest on August 4th (2004). While he was alive, he was known to be an active, cheerful and warm person to everyone. His sudden passing has left everyone stunned and feelings of heaviness began to fill everyone’s heart. The whole experience felt like a dream, a dream which everyone wanted to wake up from, but was inevitable.

Days after the funeral, we resumed our work at the centre. The day-to-day activities in the office were also back to normal. However, it was only then that we started to realize that Uncle Joe’s desk was empty, and suddenly it hit us, that Uncle Joe would never return to work with us anymore…

In 1994, Uncle Joe, aged 48 then, resigned from his comfortable and highly paid job to accept the challenge given by the bishop (Bishop Anthony Lee) of the Catholic Church, Miri Diocese, to establish a centre that would focus on “pro-life”. As one could imagine, to start such an organization with zero resources in hand requires one to put in a great deal of time, dedication and effort. However, under the leadership and guidance of Uncle Joe, and with the help offered by many volunteers, all the hard work finally paid off. The result was the birth of “Human Life Service Centre” on 15th October 1995 Subsequently, on 19th March 1996, “Human Life Service Centre” set up a shelter home called the “St. Jospeh’s Home”.

Uncle Joe’s favorite phrases were, “Don’t worry, just trust in the Lord” and “Nothing is impossible for the Lord”. It is this belief that has kept Human Life Service Centre in existence till today. Now, even without Uncle Joe’s presence, his spirit will continue to live in our hearts. When the centre encountered numerous difficulties and challenges, Uncle Joe would always hold strongly onto his belief. His compelling determination and spirit has given the rest of us the courage to continue to strive and fight against the culture of death, so that the joy of life can be celebrated by all corners of society.

Uncle Joe has undoubtedly shown us his genuine love for life. He always gave his best into everything that he did, whether big or small. He humbled himself by offering to educate us on the use of personal computers, designing newsletters and magazines. He even hung banners, carried tables, chairs and tools for exhibitions. Occasionally, he would go to the St. Joseph’s Home to mow the lawn, repair what needed to be fixed, etc. He always said, “Do not complain. Do what you need to do.” No matter how exhausted he was, he never showed it. Instead there was always a smile on his face and he was always cheerful with everyone at work. When we faced problems, difficulties and pressures at work, he would always come in to light up the atmosphere in order to calm us down. When we needed someone to talk to, he was always there to lend us his ears. There was never an ‘employer-employee’ kind of relationship between Uncle Joe and the rest of us who have worked with him. Often, we shared with each other our lives’ experiences and knowledge. We also gave support and encouragement to each other.

The job of a “pro-life” follower is not as glamorous as it seems to be. We have to fight a continuous battle against the culture of death. Abortion, contraception, euthanasia, pre-marital sex, domestic violence, pornography, etc., are all examples of the culture of death which depletes the meaning and value of life. Sadly, this “culture” has already penetrated tenaciously into our homes and society at large. In his quest to fight against the strong grasp and influence of the culture of death which destroys precious lives, Uncle Joe had always been cleared and committed to his mission and direction. This resulted in a variety of pro-life activities being organized to aim at alerting the society of the meaning and understanding of life – “Life begins from the moment of conception, whereby respect should be given from that moment on. Most importantly, this innocent life should be granted the right to live”. Thus, the Human Life Service Centre started to make its journey into the rural areas in 1997, spreading the good news of life to all.

Batu Niah was the first destination that the Human Life Service Centre had arrived for such a mission. Following after that, each year from July to October, Uncle Joe and all staff involved would be busy planning and preparing for the journey to other rural areas to give talks. We would often invite along volunteers for the travel. The areas which we have covered throughout the years include Baram, Limbang, Lawas, Lapok, Belaga & Brunei Darussalam.

In March that year, during an interview with a news reporter, Uncle Joe remarked, “The value of life is not measured by how much we own, but by the way we live it. The life of a cleaner is not worth any lesser than yours or mine. His contribution to the society has also been assured. We cannot judge a person’s life by looking at how big or small at the things he does, or how much he has contributed. Instead, as a member of society, we should carry the responsibility of showing love and care to the people around us as well as to see and appreciate the value of life in others. Only then will we be able to build a loving and respectable society.”

For one to protect life, one needs to understand the fundamental meaning of life. “Human life is a gift received in order then to be given as a gift.” Therefore, we should take the responsibility to protect life, and to offer ourselves “as a gift ” to others through our love. Uncle Joe had indeed lived a life which ‘he was giving himself as a gift to others’. That spirit was so strong that even during the last moments of his life, he was still working hard, serving others. During the nine years of toil, Uncle Joe has planted the seeds of love and care in the hearts of the people. We believe that his hard work will not be wasted. The seeds will continue to grow and bear fruit one day.
Again, I love you dad, I love you so much...

A Great Weekend!!!

Hey all, Haha....so much for my every two days. Well, I don't usually write over the weekends, so it's not that bad lah :P. Anyway, today's blog will be a picture blog of what I did over the weekend with the little one and the hubby :D. It was great fun! Wouldn't have trade all those moments with anything in the world.

That's little Seraphina sitting by the playground bridge at PBC. Obviously she had a blast since we were there from 11am to 5.30pm!!! It was a good labour day...that's what you call a relaxing and enjoyable day!!!

That's Sera with Ashley!!! So cute the both of them....dapat posing lagik you!

That's the wonderful babysitter that we had during the whole day at PBC. She was a great help, I didn't even know my daughter was there...haha...just kidding :P Well, that just meant that she was a big help!!! Very very big help!!! Thanks dear if you are reading this! :D

Hahaha...this is like one of the best shots....taken by the 'Babysitter' (sorry, am not giving names here) :D

That's a few of us just hanging out....nice place leh??? :P

That's most of the gang...doesn't it look like we are in Bali or something like that??? :P

This was the baby of the day!!! I so wanted to bring her home!!! Isn't she the cutess!!! She fell asleep in my arms.....sigh.....how I wish I had another baby!!! Lord, when will you answer my prayer??? :D I have faith in you and I'll wait. You know when is best :).

Now this picture was taken on Saturday at Island. Apparently they were having a full on Heineken promotion at al fresco and since we were Tiger drinkers we had to move :P. The Heineken promotion seem to have been a blast since I heard that they had 2 black outs during that night!!! What I liked about it is that, if you sign up as a member, you get a very cool bottle coaster thingy (you know the kind that keeps your beer bottle cold when your drinking it) ...hmmm...not really sure what it is actually called....have to check with Len. Len if you are reading this, what is it ah??? There were two colours, one blue and the other white. The blue one was a picture of a turn table and the white one was a picture of headphones....which I like :D. Thanks Percival for changing it for me!!! Ummm...sorry no photos of the bottle coaster thingy :P

That's me and Ally. She's a babe! Don't we look happy :P

Me and the hubby....

Me and the hubby again....its nice to be out with him once in awhile :D

Me Time!!!

Today I'm on leave and I'm going to have some ME-TIME!!! I've planned so many things in my head yesterday but I doubt I'm going to do them all today. Here's my list of what I'm going to do:

8.00am : Go jogging at Taman Bulatan but not possible due to haze...might die inhaling all that smoke! So second option, go to the Gym instead.

9.30am : Go for a hair wash

10.30am : Go for a body massage

11.30am : Go for lunch with Mom and Robin

1.00pm : Go home and nap

2.00pm : Go shopping for sunglasses and go windown shopping

4.00pm : Relax and watch TV

5.00pm : Go play Netball

6.30pm : Pick my daughter up from the babysitter

END of ME-TIME....

So as you can see I basically have the whole day plan! But since it's 9.45am now and I have yet to go to the gym....I think quite a number of the things on the list will not be done. Now my ME-TIME goes like this:

9.30am : Write something on my blog cause I promise to do it once every two days :P

10.00am : Get myself to the gym

11.30am : Come home and shower and wash my hair myself

12.00noon : Lunch with Mom and Robin

1.30pm : Go home and rest a bit

2.00pm : Go sunglasses shopping and window shopping

4.00pm : Come home and rest a bit

5.00pm : Go play netball

(I'm beggining to wonder whether I need all this exercise...hmmm...got to go check my weight....hold on ah......ok back...I'm 45.5kg. Not too bad lah for my height :P)

6.30pm : Go pick my daughter

END of ME-TIME :D By the way, for married ladies out there, it's good to have Me-Time and love yourself. It pretty difficult to love the people around you if you don't love yourself first. So, give yourself time to be pampered and to do whatever you like to do before you burn yourself out! Alright???

Tomorrow is a public holiday and my daughter will be around so it'll be HER-TIME this while weekend :P. Though tomorrow will be me and my hubby's 5 years of being married!!! Who would have guessed that we've managed to pull through!!! Very tough but we did it nevertheless! Now another 5 years more to aim at :P.

Alright, that's it from me.....got to keep to my schedule before I have to change it again. Have a good day ahead everyone and don't forget to exercise to stay healthy ;)

TA for now!!!

OMG!!! It's been a month!!!

OMG!!! it's been a month since I wrote anything in my blog. You have no idea how busy I have been with my work picking up speed at this time of the year and my daughter getting HFMD!!! Haha....but all is good and I've decided to spend a few minutes updating you all on what has been going on in my life and what I intend to do with it....

What has happen:

1) My daughters HFMD is getting better and I think she has the mild one cause she's still as active as ever. The health ministry came over to the house to spray the toilet with what smells like Clorox, which I think is a really really good thing cause it shows that they care :D

A picture of my little sweetheart, taken by Atoy & Rozie..thanks guys...its a beautiful picture of her.

Here she hasn't gotten her ears pierced yet :D

2) My daughter got her ears pierced a few week back!!! WOOHOO!!! I think it was on the 1st April. Hahaha....well she wanted to get it pierced and insisted on it, so we went to the gold smith and got both ears pierced at the same time. That had to be done, if not, she'll just have one of hers ears pierce. Obviously she had no clue that piercing her ears would hurt that much, so after they pierced it (at that time she had her eyes close) she cried very very loud!!! :P So, I had to get her a pair of socks to make her happy. Well, she did stop crying after that to ask me why they kepit her ears....haha...poor girl. But now she's blissfully happy with ther heart shape earrings :P.

3) I'm now addicted to watching "The biggest loser" on Hallmark at 7pm everyday. Even "American Idol" is not interesting anymore. It's so cool to see all the fat people lose all those fat that they have accumulated for so many years. And just look at them during the finale!!! They look healthy, fit, muscular, handsome/pretty/sexy, and they even have their self confidence back! It's amazing!!! This just proves that anyone can lose weight if they put their mind to it. Agree??? Don't ever tell yourself that it is impossible...cause if this people can do it, I'm sure you can too!!!

What I intend to do:

1) Start writing my blog once every two days....hahaha....I know I keep saying something along this line, but serisouly I'm going to do it! Just check back in two days time!!!

2) I'm going to work on having a closer relationship with God/Our Heavenly Father.

3) I'm going to start building muscles, but not to get big but just to tone up. Need to start getting fit again cause I seem to have been neglecting it for two weeks now. First week cause I was MS-ing and second week cause my daughter had HFMD. Very valid excuses to not exercise but nevertheless....I have to find away to fit exercise into my schedule. Started yesterday and got my daughter to do some exercise with me too....haha...its never to early to start eh??? :P Plus the fact that watching "The biggest loser" and seeing those super fit trainers, make me one to be as fit as them....hahaha...my motivation at the moment :P.

4) Pray very hard that I will have a miracle baby :D You all pray for me also ok?

5) Get my mom to exercise!!! Sometimes I feel like I take my mom for granted. I guess its about time I spend more time with her by bringing her to taman bulatan for her walk. She should, to keep herself healthy so that she can be around for my second miracle child ;).

6) Get my sister a pair of Asic shoes since they are having the 50% shoe sale at Lea. Did you know that asics shoes are fantastic for exercising!!! They are really good quality. You can trust me on that :D.

And I guess that's it! So stay tune and see you in two days!!! Don't forget, stay healthy and start exercising today!!! :D

TA for now!!!

If you KEEP YOUR LIGHTS ON, your VOTING for GLOBAL WARMING, that's just plain EVIL!!!

So its the first time in Malaysian History that we will be participating in this Earth Day - Earth Hour thing. I seriously wonder how many of us are going to take this seriously.

I mean Malaysians are not exactly very fantastic in helping out with the Environment in general. Don't get me wrong....I'm a Malaysian too....but let me give you a few examples:

  1. We still use plastic bags despite having seen so many posters around that say "Say 'NO' to Plastic Bags".
  2. I still see people throwing rubbish out of their cars!!! Please lah, if you are going to throw it out of your car, at least take note of the car behind you!!! BUT, please lah, stay clean, can or not! Put your rubbish in a proper dustbin!!! If not, what's the whole point of having a dustbin!!!You might as well just throw away your dustbin as well!!! yes, I'm being sarcastic here...sorry...emotions getting in my way...haha...but seriously, throw the rubbish in the dustbin please!
  3. And what's with Burning things behind your back yard??? Not only are you polluting the environment, your also killing yourself and your neighbours with the smoke!!! Of course, it works for getting rid of the mosquitoes but its seriously terrible for the environment.
This are just a few...I don't think I need to elaborate more...

So you see, it would be nice for once that we as Malaysian take our environment seriously. Why not start with EARTH HOUR and VOTE EARTH by switching off your lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. It's only an hour...I seriously don't think you will die by not having the lights on for one hour!!! There are a few things you could do in that hour, for example:

  1. You could have candle light dinner and invite your friends over like my dear friend Corriena is doing. Good on you dear!!!
  2. You could sit outside and look at the stars!!! But don't forget the mosquito coil thingy, if not you'll be eaten alive by them.
  3. You could meditate and have your quite time with the Lord :). Perfect time to let him know how thankful you are for all that he has done for you!
  4. You could walk up and down your lane to get some well deserve exercise...haha...good bah, you get to save the environment by switching off the lights and keep yourself healthy at the same time!
And I guess that there are many more things you could think up and do, so why not join in? I'm hoping you all will.

And don't just off the lights lah...don't take it so literal when they say 'Switch Off the Lights'. Please also switch off the air-con and the tv, because they sure as hell take up a lot of electricity as well!!!

So what say you all??? Vote lah!!! :D

Maybe we should the government should get those people who usually drives around in a truck or van collecting newspaper, who says "Old Newspaper!!!!, Old Newspaper!!!" and make them they go around at 8.20pm to 8.30pm saying "Support Earth Hour!!! Switch OFF your LIGHTS NOW!!!" instead!!! And also say it in Malay "Sokong Sejam Bumi, TUTUP LAMPU SEKARANG!!!"....hahahaha...that's just seriously bad translation!!!

Oklah that's it from me!!! And to sign off:

"VOTE EARTH!!!" If you keep on your lights, that's just saying that you're VOTING for GLOBAL WARMING!!! And that's EVIL!!! :P

Ta for now!!!
